Consulting Resources

Practical methods and worked examples for forecasting cash, building a budget, modeling a P&L and making better use of monthly reporting.

How the four resources work together

Start with the P&L model to see which assumptions drive margin. Use the budget to agree how much to spend and when to hire. Then check the 13-week cash forecast to see whether the business can fund those commitments when payments fall due.

In the monthly review, compare actuals with the plan. If sales are on budget but customers are paying later, update the cash forecast, assign an owner to follow up on collections and decide whether to reschedule discretionary spending.
